7th Grade Mathematics Syllabus Ms. Lauren Kennison Shapleigh School 2017-2018
Welcome to the start of a new school year! 7th grade mathematics will be a class that is well structured, there will be clear expectations, but it will also be an interactive and fun learning environment. This year, we will be learning mathematics using primarily the Glencoe Math curriculum. Rigor is built in to this curriculum by stressing conceptual understanding, application, and procedural fluency. When you leave math class this year, I expect students to understand many interesting and helpful ways that math is used everyday, and I know they will be well prepared for 8th grade mathematics. I look forward to a fun and successful seventh grade year together! Late Work Policy All late assignments WILL be accepted, however, it will have an affect on your HOW grade. On rare occasions, events occur that make it impossible for a student to finish his/her homework on time. If this happens, the parent/guardian should call or email Ms. Kennison so you will not be penalized for circumstances beyond his/her control.
Attendance Policy/Make-Up Work Attending class everyday and on time is crucial to a student’s success in this class. If you are tardy or absent, it is your responsibility to check in with Ms. Kennison to see what you have missed. It is good practice to send an email, if possible, to check in and see what you have missed. The day you arrive back at school plan to visit me before school, after school, or during W.I.N. to collect/make-up what you have missed. My website is updated daily with any assignments or notes that were given out in class.
